Women Entrepreneurs In the Online Community

The Internet has played a huge role in the way that society functions today. Heck, you wouldn’t even be reading this if it weren’t for the Internet! There are so many different ways for people to connect online that it has even made communication easier in a way and has allowed for people to open up their lives for the public to see. Some people have even made a name for themselves solely based on the Internet and different social media platforms. Instagram allows a person to share their life through photos, WordPress allows a person to share their life through words, and Twitter and Facebook allow a person to promote themselves and their business for free. These are just a few ways in which we have seen individuals rocket to Internet stardom, if you will. The best thing is that ANYONE can access these sites and ANYONE, who is willing, can make a name for themselves from these sites.
Through this blog I would like to highlight female entrepreneurs who made their name from the Internet. So many people, women specifically, are out their doing important things and using so many different online platforms to do so. Some women have found a way to make a name for themselves past their blog or social media site and have grown into what we would consider an entrepreneur. I want to first take a look at the bigger pictures of how the Internet is affecting the way individuals are able to portray themselves and their business online through research at the library and web searches. After that I will evaluate the difference between men and women in online communities through statistics and Internet articles. Finally I plan to highlight specific women that have built their “empire” from the use of online communities and social media!
